BUILDING STARS

NLCS PHILOSOPHY

North Lawrence Community Schools provides an educational climate, challenging students to work to their potential and offers them an opportunity to succeed within the boundaries of available resources and facilities. Within these boundaries, we provide varied educational opportunities for all individuals, thus encouraging the development of the whole person. The focus is placed upon acquiring basic and advanced academic skills, expansion of creative talent, enhancement of social skills, and physical and character development. The education provided is based on democratic principles and challenges each individual to face and accept the responsibilities and challenges of today's rapidly changing world.

NLCS MISSION

"Our mission is to provide pathways to success for every student by embedding our values, vision, and focus areas into daily practice. Through a whole-child approach that emphasizes academic achievement, social-emotional development, character building, and consistent engagement, we aim to graduate students who are confident, well-rounded, and prepared to thrive in post-secondary learning, meaningful careers, or military service."

NLCS VISION

"We are a high-performing school system where we will build the STARS of tomorrow by achieving excellence in education and ensuring strong performances across all key indicators and outcomes."

NLCS COMMUNITY

North Lawrence Community Schools is located about halfway between Indianapolis and Louisville, in an area rich with limestone. Earlier generations of Lawrence Countians have provided stone for such landmarks as the Washington Cathedral, the Empire State Building, and the Federal Triangle Buildings. Today, limestone remains an important part of the economy, but the economic base also includes automobile manufacturing plants, a federal munitions facility, and various other small businesses and agricultural enterprises.
